sleek, glistening figures
of black and white
that gleam in the sun
as they move up and down
through the water
jumping! splashing!
they perform the ritualistic dance
circling the boat, around and around
as if entertaining for their guests,
those that are visiting the water, watching
like great waves of black and white
they give chase, skipping merrily
through the icy blue water
playfully teasing their audience
in their gleeful ballet
